Apologetics

Apologetics is a field of study within theology and philosophy that involves the reasoned defense of a belief system—most commonly, Christianity. The term comes from the Greek word apologia (ἀπολογία), which means “a defense” or “a speech in defense.” It is famously used in 1 Peter 3:15, where believers are instructed to:

“Always be ready to give a defense (apologia) to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with gentleness and respect.”
